It happens less than you might think, but if we do have unfavorable weather during your scheduled session time I will do my very best to get you rescheduled during your available dates!
Every session is different, but I approach each one with the mentality of documenting your entire experience. We get posed photos, we get playful photos, I try to capture the funny or sweet moments in-between. I want you to be able to revisit your photos in the future and remember the experience; the fun that was had, the silly things that were said or done, and reflect on an overall great time together, not just a "smile at the camera" frame-worthy shots. That said, I delete all of the bloopers and repeats, and include the rest. The average 45 minute session includes 50-75 photos, often more.
We live in an area with endless options when it comes to choosing the right photographer for you, and I support that! From each photographer's artistic and editing style, personality, experience level, price point - there are so many factors to consider. I have been photographing Destin and 30A families since May 2014 and I am thankful that many of my clients have been kind enough to share their experiences with Facebook Reviews, which you can read HERE! Many of my clients I've photographed year and year which is a huge honor. If you're looking for a photographer who is laid back, embraces each family like we're old friends, is un-phased by the chaos, and will go above and beyond to make sure photos are edited to look their very best, I might be the one for you!
1,000%. I wish this wasn't even a question. Same sex weddings, family sessions, couples - I've photographed them all. 🫶🏼🏳️🌈
Sure do! Personally and professionally. Warmth, patience, and a calming approach is my priority. Each session includes a brief questionnaire for you to fill out upon booking, with a section to share any concerns you may have or additional information I should know beforehand. You tell me what works best for your family or kiddos and we'll make it happen.
I recommend picking an overall aesthetic first that best suits your family or current style - neutrals or colorful? If colorful, pastels or bold? From there pick two to three 'main colors' and build out from there. If you have a favorite piece (Mom's dress, son's shirt, etc), work from there. Avoid matching outfits. Avoid reds, bright orange or any neon colors or reflective materials. Don't worry about shoes, we don't need 'em! Mixing solids with a pattern or two, layering, and textured pieces (ruffles, fun trims, raw hemlines) all add an element of interest. Try it on first to make sure you FEEL good when you look in the mirror!
Of course!
- Plan a relaxing day, not a day to wear out the kids. Avoid big adventures or long swims that make you think "they'll sleep good tonight!" We need a little energy left in the tank!
- Make sure kids' bellies are full or have had snacks and water before the session.
- Check the wind beforehand!!!! The beach is usually breezy and while many worry about rain, windy weather and flyaway hair are the much more common troublemaker! Especially for young girls, if you step outside an hour before the session and it's breezy, style their hair out of their face! You'll be happy you did!
